| NIS II Version 2.0 Nov. 5, 2000, XGforce.COM announced the shipment of NIS II 2.0, which is designed to ease the administration of UNIX Networks. NIS II is a complete re-implementation of the old NIS. It's more secure than the old NIS and is a lot easier to manage compared to SUN's NIS+. It is designed to be used for SYSV styled UNIXes such as SUN Solaris and LINUX. NIS II manages Unix servers and workstations into Managed Domain Zones (MDZ). Administrator may add an user account, modify an user account, delete an user account for a MDZ that is composed of a group of Unix machines. For example, an Unix network can be classed into Web farms, mail server farms, database server farms, developer workstations, user workstations, etc. Each of these classes can be setup into different MDZs. Administrators will be able to manage account information from one or two single central location (NIS master workstations), a single command is sufficient to modify one user account located in a MDZ or one user account in all MDZs. With NIS reinvented, administrator makes their daily tasks more efficient and accurate. This software is featured with high compression algorithms with an observed compression ratio up to 7.3:1. It also incorporated SSL to enforce a strong network security environment. This software is released along with the eCluster™ software and is downloadable by clicking the "Download Tree Item" to the left.
